Pictured here is a coal miners pick found in a western Maryland Coal mine. This type of tool would have been used locally during the Copper Mine period of Monterey Pass. Also, three typical flat/coin buttons made from brass that would have been worn by civilians or on the uniform jacket of a Confederate soldier. Several of these buttons have been found on the Monterey Pass Battlefield. The pick axe you see, is from the era with a reproduction handle.
